Yesterday the FINE Champagne magazine announced their TOP 100 list for the ‘Best Champagnes in 2013’! FINE Champagne magazine, the only international publication devoted to champagne and a renowned industry authority, announces its list of the “100 Best Champagnes for 2013”. Richard Juhlin is a contributor in each issue of the magazine since the start.
During the last twelve months the magazine’s editorial team assessed over 1000 champagnes that are now available on the markets. After the final, five-day blind-tasting of the top 300 champagnes, the final results were tabulated. Any champagne making it to the Top 100 in the rigorous tasting of their editorial board can warmly be recommended. Still, there can only be one winner. In 2010 the title was given to Armand de Brignac Brut Gold NV, in 2011 Piper-Heidsieck Rare 2002, and in 2012 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2000. This year offers a tribute to the Vintage champagne category, as the winner of great value and class outdid a long list of outstanding prestige cuvées. FINE Champagne proudly present our winner for 2013, Charles Heidsieck Vintage 2000.
‘Podium position is nothing new to Charles Heidsieck that has been the number one ranked Champagne brand in major international wine competitions over the recent years. But in this year’s FINE Champagne TOP 100 ‘Charlie’ hit the jackpot with its three cuvées – Vintage 2000, Brut Réserve NV and Rosé Millesimé 1999 – making it in out top four. It is the richness of the Charles Heidsieck style, the wines’ aged, sweet opulence and readiness to drink that earned it those top positions’, FINE Champagne editor Essi Avellan MW comments.
FINE Champagne magazine’s aim with this annual ranking is to taste the entire offering on the international markets in order to select the champagnes that are showing best this very moment. The most important criterion is the quality of the wine and its accessibility today.
The full 100 Best Champagnes ranking can be read in the FINE Champagne magazines September issue.
